This policy explains what information VineRack collects, how we use it, and your rights. We aim to be clear and direct — no walls of legalese.
How VineRack Gets Amazon Data — Important
VineRack's servers never access, scrape, crawl, or interact with Amazon's website or APIs. All Amazon-originated data enters VineRack through exactly two user-initiated channels:
- Email forwarding. You voluntarily configure your email provider to forward Amazon order confirmation emails to your unique VineRack address. VineRack parses these emails — which you have already received — to extract product data.
- Browser extension. You install an optional Chrome extension and manually trigger product preservation while browsing your own Amazon purchases. All data extraction happens locally in your browser, on your device. The extension then sends the extracted data to VineRack for storage at your request.
VineRack stores product data (titles, descriptions, images, prices) solely for your personal inventory management of products you have received through Amazon Vine.
1. Information We Collect
Account information
When you sign up, we collect your email address and country. You may optionally provide a display name and your Amazon email address (the email where you receive Amazon order confirmations — this may differ from your login email).
Product data from forwarded emails
When you forward Amazon order confirmation emails to VineRack, we parse them to extract: ASIN, product title, retail value (ETV), order ID, order date, and product thumbnail image URL. We do not read or store unrelated emails — only Amazon order confirmations sent to your unique forwarding address. Non-Amazon emails (such as email provider verification codes) are only forwarded to your account email during a limited setup window after you configure your forwarding address. Once your first product email is successfully processed, non-Amazon emails are silently discarded and never stored or forwarded.
Product data from the browser extension
If you use the optional browser extension, it extracts product descriptions, feature lists, images, categories, and other product details from Amazon product pages you visit. This extraction happens entirely on your device. The extension sends the extracted data to VineRack only when you initiate the action.
Payment information
Payments are processed by Stripe. We never receive or store your credit card number. We store your Stripe customer ID and subscription status to manage your plan.
AI usage data
If you use the AI review assistant (paid tiers), we send your product data and notes to Anthropic's Claude API to generate review drafts. We track usage counts for billing purposes.
Usage information
We collect minimal technical data needed to operate the service: authentication session tokens and daily feature usage counters. We do not currently use analytics or tracking services.
2. How We Use Your Information
- Provide and operate the VineRack service
- Parse forwarded emails to import product data
- Store and display your product inventory
- Process payments and manage subscriptions
- Generate AI review drafts (when you request them)
- Enforce usage limits (free tier daily caps)
- Send service-related emails (forwarding verification, account notifications)
3. Third-Party Services
We use the following services to operate VineRack:
- Supabase — database and authentication (servers in the United States)
- Vercel — application hosting (servers in the United States)
- Stripe — payment processing
- Resend — receiving forwarded emails
- Anthropic (Claude) — AI review generation. Product data sent to Claude for review drafts is not used to train Anthropic's models.
4. Data Retention
Your account data and product inventory are kept for as long as your account is active. When you delete your account (Settings → Danger Zone), all your data is permanently deleted, including items, images, usage history, and profile information.
5. Your Rights
You have the right to:
- Access your data — your full inventory is visible in the app
- Export your data — CSV export is available in Settings
- Correct your data — you can edit any item or profile field
- Delete your data — delete individual items or your entire account
Canadian residents: Your rights are protected under the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA).
California residents: Under the CCPA, you have the right to know what personal information we collect, request deletion, and opt out of the sale of personal information. We do not sell your personal information.
6. Cookies
VineRack uses a single authentication session cookie to keep you logged in. We do not use tracking cookies, advertising cookies, or third-party analytics.
7. Children
VineRack is not directed at users under 18 years of age. Amazon Vine membership requires users to be at least 18. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18.
8. Security
All data is encrypted in transit using TLS. Our database enforces row-level security (RLS), which means each user can only access their own data — even at the database level. Payment processing is handled entirely by Stripe.
9. Amazon Relationship
VineRack is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to Amazon in any way. We are an independent product built for Amazon Vine members. As described above, VineRack's servers never access Amazon's website — all data comes from you, through your email forwarding and browser extension actions.
10. Changes to This Policy
If we make material changes to this privacy policy, we will notify you by email at the address associated with your account. The updated policy will also be posted here with a new effective date.
